Javelina

You may have noticed the neighborhood javelina herd seems larger and more "active" than usual.  This may be the result of residents feeding the javelina.  PLEASE DON'T FEED THE WILDLIFE.  It is against hte law to feed any wild animals except birds.  Not only is human food unhealthy for wildlife, but it can make the wildlife unafraid of humans and even aggressive.  When wildlife and humans come into conflict, the wildlife will lose every time.  Here is an excellent article about javelina by Arizona Game and Fish:

Julie Strom of Pima County Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation visited us at a past board meeting and emphasized the need to be consistent in keeping food and trash away from javelina.  Let's keep up the improvements we've made!
